The **Details** panel gives you quick access to essential inspection metadata, making it easier to update titles, track status, organize by location, and assign custom references—all without leaving the inspection view. It also allows you to archive or delete inspections with one click.

This is ideal for teams managing large volumes of inspections who need to stay organized and maintain traceability across projects.

**Note:** All changes made in the Details panel are automatically saved and reflected in your inspection dashboard and reports.

## How to Access the Details Panel

1. Open any inspection
2. Click the **sliders icon** at the top of the screen (next to Share)
3. The **Details** panel will open on the right-hand side

## What You Can Edit

### Title

Change the title of the inspection to reflect the subject or purpose more clearly.

**Note:** For example, you might rename “Inspection #304” to “Franchise Opening – Atlanta Site Visit” for better clarity in exported reports and dashboards.

### Description

Add a brief note about the inspection for internal reference. This field is optional but helpful for context.

### Status

Update the inspection status using a predefined dropdown list (e.g., “In Progress,” “Completed,” “Needs Review”).

### Custom Reference ID

Use this field to add your own tracking ID, order number, or external system reference code.

**Note:** Teams often use this field to map the inspection back to work orders or client ticketing systems.

### Locations

Add one or more locations to link the inspection to a specific city, address, or site.

### Project

Associate the inspection with a project from your list, making it easier to group and filter inspections.

### Template

Displays the name of the template used to create the inspection. This field is locked for reference only.

## Actions Available

- **Archive**: Moves the inspection out of the active list but keeps it stored for future reference.
- **Move to Trash Bin**: Permanently deletes the inspection (with confirmation). Use this only when you’re sure the data is no longer needed.

**Note:** Archived inspections can still be accessed via filters. Use this when the inspection is complete but may need to be reviewed or audited later.

## Best Practices

- Keep titles and reference IDs consistent to make search and filtering easier
- Use descriptions for any notes that might help someone reviewing or following up on the inspection
- Always assign the correct project and location to improve reporting accuracy
